There might be an incompatability with the Normal template, which MS Office rebuilds everytime you start a program and aboslutely insists on using. If you have ever been able to get the fonts to show up in MS Office, then you might try to create a new templates using Roboto. For MS Word, you'd have to remove every style is based on Normal in the new template by modifying all of those styles so that they don't depend on anything.
